John Onians on neuroarthistory

Nice and brief introduction to the work of John Onians, who famously and notoriously coined the term ‘neuroarthistory’, as an approach that ‘concerns the neurological study of artists, both living and dead.’ His work provoked quite some criticism about the relevance of science to art history; it is often seen as an attempt to reduce aesthetics to neuroscience and evolutionary science.
